Mike, your stories about Connecticut reminded me of the best vacation of my childhood. My father took us for a week to a tiny lake in Hazardville, CT… a town only known for making the explosives that the Confederacy used to destroy Fort Sumter and start the Civil War. (The reason it was my favorite vacation was my father broke his toe.)

Dude, they called it Hazardville. He was warned.

😂 Hazardville!! That’s right next to Accidenttown and just a short drive to Catastrophcity, right? 🤣

Hazardville was one of several strange subdivisions of Enfield, where I grew up. My family thought it was safe to ice skate every winter on a crackling pond in a town called Hazardville. 🤨 In good weather, we played in a deep gully where there were snakes. Amazing we survived CT.

Love love love. And honored to be part of your story via I’M CONNECTICUT. And diagramming sucked the big one.

Hey Michael, Great post about Bristol. I lasted 6 years and had to vamoose. It was great seeing you and your wife at the Crocodile Club and watching you torture the Republican candidates. You’re right about one thing, it was a great place to grow up! PS It’s so hilarious about Kyle’s dad and the scrabble board…Bristol dads were just built differently. 😂 Best to you and Denise! Ok, a few things;

1. You’re Number 1, the most famous person from Bristol I care about.

2. “God always listens to my prayers then does the exact opposite.” Good, can you start praying I never get to return to NYC. 😂

3. Is Stoneybrook (the town from ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’, supposedly in Connecticut) real?

4. ‘The Simpsons’ is full of ‘not the obvious jokes’ so you were right!!

Thanks for taking me to Bristol! 💛

PS: I’ll be back later to correct the typos I haven’t noticed yet.

Happy Birthday Mike. I lived at Paterson School it was called Patterson Place when it was made into condos. Bob Crane from Hogans Heroes also has some ties to Bristol. He was born in Waterbury but spent time in Bristol. Ted Knight was a Terryville native. And Mike Reiss is the greatest Bristol native.

Bob Crane was doing dinner theater in Phoenix when we lived there. We thought we’d buttonhole him at the play and discuss our shared Bristol roots. Then a news bulletin came on: “Bob Crane was found beaten to death in his Phoenix motel room.” My mom, without missing a beat, said, “I guess someone didn’t like the show.”
